Fixture for bonding battery cells, made from RAKU® TOOL WB-0801

High-Performance Energy Module – In-House Production
The high-voltage battery of the GAUSS 2 consists of in-house manufactured lithium-ion modules, developed, bonded, welded, and insulated by the students. This creates a swappable, water-cooled battery system with high safety and maximum performance.

Efficient and Powerful Motor
The GAUSS 2 e-superbike is powered by an axial-flux motor delivering 250 Nm of torque and a nominal output of 110 kW. Briefly, it can achieve up to 500 Nm of torque and a peak power of 200 kW, which the students strategically utilize for maximum racing performance.

Quickly Swappable Battery
The heart of the e-superbike is its lithium-ion energy storage system. The empty battery can be swapped for a fully charged one in seconds. Charging is possible via the GAUSS fast-charging station, both onboard and externally. It also supports telemetry data collection for vehicle performance analysis.

Requirements for the WB-0801 Board Material

  • Good machinability
  • Electrically non-conductive
  • High dimensional accuracy
  • High stability at low density

Manufacturing the Fixture – Precise and Process-Reliable

The fixture is produced by precisely milling the board material based on CAD data. Modern CNC technology ensures maximum dimensional accuracy, reliable reproducibility, and an optimal fit for its subsequent use in production.

Board Material RAKU® TOOL WB-0801

Added value

  • Easily machinable, with precisely finished surfaces for exact component positioning
  • Good solvent resistance
  • High heat deflection temperature with low density, electrically non-conductive
  • High mechanical strength at low density
  • Dimensionally stable due to low coefficient of linear thermal expansion
