Dagmara Nocuń from Poland and Lea Schüpbach from Switzerland play for the German handball club TUSSIES Metzingen – and both are RAMPF player patrons. This multinational mix holds great potential for comparing the three countries and learning about its people and culture!

The representatives for Poland and Switzerland are obvious – the handball stars and RAMPF player patrons Dagmara Nocuń and Lea Schüpbach. To answer questions on Germany’s behalf, we turn to RAMPF CEO Michael Rampf.

Here we go!

Dagmara Nocuń

Please name three typical character traits of your compatriots.

They are open and hospitable. But they also like to nag 😁

What is characteristic for the landscape of your country?

In the north it is the Baltic Sea with beautiful beaches, fishing villages, and seaside resorts. In the south lies the High Tatras, the world’s smallest high mountain region.

Which building is the most famous?

The Palace of Culture and Science, a 237-meter-high skyscraper in the center of Warsaw.

Which city is the most beautiful?

Lublin with its many bars, pubs, and restaurants as well as a very beautiful historic old town.

What is the traditional national dish? Do you like it?

Pierogi, a filled dumpling. I really enjoy eating them, especially with meat.

Who is the country’s most famous sportswoman and sportsman?

The tennis player Iga Świątek and the football star Robert Lewandowski.

With which well-known person of your country would you like to change your life for one day and why?

Iga and Robert. They are among the best in their sport and I would like to find out what drives them and how committed they are to always perform at the highest level.

Lea Schüpbach

Please name three typical character traits of your compatriots.

I would describe the Swiss as punctual, reserved, and hard-working.

What is characteristic for the landscape of your country?

Mountains and lakes. The highest mountain in Switzerland, and the second highest in the Alps after Mont Blanc, is the Dufourspitze at 4,634 meters. The most famous lake is certainly Lake Geneva.

Which building is the most famous?

The Kapellbrücke in Lucerne, Europe's oldest wooden bridge.

Which city is the most beautiful?

Lucerne. On the one hand because of the aforementioned Kapellbrücke, and on the other due to the location directly on Lake Lucerne and its beautiful historic old town.

What is the traditional national dish? Do you like it?

Fondue and raclette. I like both dishes very much. You just have to like cheese 😁

Who is the country’s most famous sportswoman and sportsman?

The ski racer Lara Gut-Behrami and the former tennis player Roger Federer.

With which well-known person of your country would you like to change your life for one day and why?

Roger Federer – I would be interested to know how he lives and what his everyday life looks like after the end of his long and very successful career.

Michael Rampf

Please name three typical character traits of your compatriots.

As a Swabian I will focus on Swabian characteristics and say that we are conscientious, hard-working, and innovative 😉

What is characteristic for the landscape of your country?

My home town of Metzingen lies at the foot of a beautiful mountain range called the Swabian Alb. The state of Baden-Württemberg is characterized by the triad of Black Forest, Swabian Alb, and Lake Constance. And the beauty of Germany extends from the North and Baltic Seas across the low mountain ranges to the Alps.

Which building is the most famous?

Either the Reichstag building or the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin.

Which city is the most beautiful?

I am a big fan of Munich, especially because of the tradition surrounding beer that manifests itself in the city’s breweries and beer gardens.

What is the traditional national dish? Do you like it?

I'll answer this question again as a Swabian and name two dishes – on the one hand Maultaschen [meat-filled dumpling], on the other lentils with spaetzle and sausages. I really enjoy eating both, although my favorite dish is Gaisburger Marsch.

Who is the country’s most famous sportswoman and sportsman?

There are many, the tennis aces Steffi Graf and Boris Becker, the Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher, the soccer player Franz Beckenbauer, and the basketball player Dirk Nowitzki come to mind.

With which well-known person of your country would you like to change your life for one day and why?

Being in the position of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz for a day and then ringing fundamental and much-needed changes based on a well-prepared agenda – that would be something!
