Precision Molds for Aerodynamic Excellence!

RAKU® TOOL WB-0700 in Action

ZoE is ready to race – with unmatched precision.

For the first time, the Formula Student team ELBFLORACE e.V. from TU Dresden is using our WB-0700 epoxy tooling board to produce composite components for their new all-electric race car, ZoE.

Whether as a direct mold for prepregs or as a base for carbon molds, RAKU® TOOL boards provide the ideal foundation for manufacturing complex, high-strength components – exactly what racing demands.

After successfully commissioning all electronic systems, ZoE made its first rollout in May – a major milestone for the team. This was followed by an intensive testing phase: with passion and technical finesse, these talented young engineers are fine-tuning their car for the next Formula Student competition.

Smart solutions. Strong partnership. Proud to power the next generation!

Application

Production of a new front wing to enhance aerodynamics.

WB-0700 tooling board was used to manufacture molds for the prepreg lay-up tools of the front wing main plate and underbody.

Requirements for WB-0700 Tooling Board:

  • Excellent heat resistance
  • Good machinability
  • Low coefficient of thermal expansion
  • Versatile in use: suitable as a direct mold for prepreg or as a master model for prepreg molds

Production Process

1. RAKU® TOOL WB-0700 is bonded, machined (in-house or by partners), then sanded, sealed, and polished.

2. Prepreg lamination follows – either directly for the final part or for mold production.

3. Curing oven with vacuum assistance (Out-of-Autoclave process).
