Flexible high-performance systems
Epoxy systems are high-grade plastics with good adhesion to a wide range of substrates, impressive resistance to temperature fluctuations and chemicals, and excellent mechanical properties.
Epoxy resins are reaction resins with epoxy groups that can be formulated to create a thermoset plastic by adding a hardener.
Glycidyl-based epoxy resins are the type mostly frequently used. They are produced by the reaction of a hydroxyl group, such as a phenol, and epichlorohydrin.
Epoxy resin + hardener = thermoset plastic
In conjunction with a suitable hardener (amines), its functional groups react with the resin’s epoxy systems in a polyaddition reaction to create a thermoset plastic.
Depending on the composition, the epoxy resin and hardener polymerize within anything from a few minutes up to a few hours. The advantage: They can be processed as viscous liquids and only cure completely afterwards.
Adhesives are one key area of application for epoxy resins. Applied in liquid form, they ensure a solid bond for all kinds of materials once they have cured.
Under the RAKU® POX brand, RAMPF Polymer Solutions develops and produces epoxy for a wide range of applications in the fields of electro casting resins, adhesives, and C.A.S.E.
