Water absorption

Water absorption is a physical characteristic of a substance, mixture or material and plays an important role in thermal insulation. For calculation, a sample is first swollen with water and left to dry. The water absorption is then calculated as the percentage of water remaining in the sample after it has dried completely. The water absorption property depends on the surface quality and porosity of the substance.
