Casting resins

Casting resins are synthetic liquid systems. Usually, two components – a resin and a hardener – are mixed together in a specific ratio and then react to become solid mass.

Casting resins for solid or face casting

Solid casting is suitable for very complex molds that would be uneconomical for use with lay-up techniques. It is quick and easy, and can be performed in just one working step. It is also very easy to make subsequent changes, since only one material is used. Full casting can be used for both small and large components, depending on the material chosen.

Face casting, in contrast, is suitable for dimensionally accurate replications as the reactive material is distributed in a layer, thus reducing shrinkage in the casting resin. Moreover, it offers a low-cost means of producing larger components, as it uses less casting resin. Through the selection of an appropriate casting resin, specific properties in the cured material can be achieved
