Materials for mold engineering

Mold engineering refers to the production of mostly negative molds that are required for the manufacture of metal casting and plastic components.
RAKU® TOOL plastic materials as well as metals (steel, aluminum) can be used in the production of these molds. The later use decides which materials are chosen.

When plastics are used as mold material, there is a choice of liquid resins and board materials.
Resins are used for casting or molding positives.
Boards are used as semi-finished products, e.g. when a mold is milled. The chemical basis of theseresins and board materials is polyurethane and epoxy.
