Gathering general information

General information is automatically collected whenever you access our website. This information (server log files) includes the type of web browser, the operating system used, the domain name of your Internet service provider etc. This exclusively constitutes information that does not allow you to be individually identified. Such information is a technical requirement to correctly display the website content you have requested to access, and is needed to use the Internet. We statistically evaluate such anonymous information to optimize our Internet presence and the technology behind it.

Registering on our website

When registering to use our personalized services, certain personal data is collected, such as your name, address, and contact/communication details, e.g. telephone number and e-mail address. Once you are registered with us, you can access the content and services that we only offer to registered users. If necessary, registered users also have the opportunity to change or delete the data they provided during registration at any time. We will of course also provide you, at any given time, with information on the personal data that we hold on you. We will happily correct or delete such data upon your request – provided there is no statutory obligation to retain this data which prevents us from doing so. To get in touch about this, please use the contact details at the end of this privacy statement.

To safeguard your data during transfer, we use a state-of-the-art encoding procedure (e.g. SSL) via HTTPS.

Use of Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses cookies, text files that are stored on your computer and enable your use of the website to be analyzed. The information provided by the cookie about your use of this website is normally transferred to and stored on a Google server in the USA. Due to IP anonymization being activated on these websites, however, Google will first truncate your IP address within the member states of the European Union or in other states that are party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transferred to a Google server in the USA and truncated there. Google will use this information on behalf of the operator of this website to analyze your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity, and to provide the website operator with other services associated with website and Internet use. The IP address provided by your browser for Google Analytics will not be combined with other data held by Google. You can configure your browser software to prevent cookies from being stored but we would advise you that, if you do so, you will not have full access to all the functions of this website. You can also stop Google from recording and processing the data generated by the cookie that relates to your use of the website (including your IP address) by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available under the following link.

In addition or as an alternative to the browser add-on, you can prevent Google Analytics from tracking on our webpages by clicking on this link. This will install an opt-out cookie on your device. As a result, Google Analytics will be prevented from gathering data for the relevant website and browser in the future as long as the cookie is activated in your browser.

Contact form

If you contact us by e-mail or using the contact form, the information you provide will be stored for the purpose of processing your request and any follow-up questions.

Newsletter

The data you provided when registering for our newsletter will be used exclusively for this purpose. Subscribers can also receive information by e-mail relevant for the service or for registration (e.g. changes to what the newsletter offers or technical details).

For the registration to take effect, we need a valid e-mail address. In order to ensure registration has been completed by the actual owner of a given e-mail address, we use the “double opt-in” process. During this process, we log the newsletter request, the issuance of a confirmation e-mail and the receipt of the reply requested in such e-mail. No further data is gathered. The data is used exclusively for the purpose of sending the newsletter and is not transferred to third parties.

You may revoke your consent to your personal data being stored and to it being used to send the newsletter at any given time. There is a corresponding link in each newsletter. You can also unsubscribe at any time directly on the website or notify us of your wish to unsubscribe using the contact details provided at the end of this document.

Use of Google Remarketing

This website uses the remarketing function of Google Inc. This function serves to display advertisements within the Google Display Network to potentially interested website visitors. A cookie is saved in the website visitor's browser that enables the visitor to be recognized if they bring up websites that are part of the Google Display Network. The visitor may be shown advertisements on these webpages based on content already accessed on webpages that use Google’s remarketing function. Google states that it does not gather any personal data during this process. Nevertheless, if you wish to do so, you have the option to deactivate Google's remarketing function by configuring your settings accordingly at http://www.google.com/settings/ads. Alternatively, you can deactivate the usage of cookies for interest-based advertising via the Display Network by following the instructions at http://www.networkadvertising.org/managing/opt_out.asp.

Google AdWords

Our website uses Google conversion tracking. If you have reached our website via a Google Display Ad, a cookie is placed on your computer by Google AdWords. The conversion tracking cookie is placed when a user clicks on a Google Display Ad. These cookies become invalid after 30 days and are not intended to be used for identification purposes. If the user visits certain pages on our website and the cookie has not yet expired, both Google and we can recognize that the user has clicked on the ad and has been forwarded to this page. Every Google AdWords customer receives a different cookie, making it impossible to track cookies via AdWords customers’ websites. The information gathered using conversion cookies helps to compile conversion statistics for AdWords customers that have opted to use conversion tracking. Customers see the total number of users that have clicked on their advertisement and were forwarded to a webpage featuring a conversion tracking tag. They do not, however, receive any information that allows them to personally identify the users.

If you would like to opt out of tracking, you can turn off the cookie required for this process – for instance you can select a browser setting that generally stops cookies from being automatically placed or configure your browser so that cookies from the domain “googleadservices.com” are blocked.

Please note that you cannot delete opt-out cookies if you do not wish measurement data to be recorded. If you have deleted all the cookies in your browser, you will need to reselect the respective opt-out cookie.

Cookies

Like many others, our website uses cookies. These are small text files that are transferred from a website server to your hard drive. They provide us with automatically determined data such as IP address, the browser used, your computer's operating system and your Internet connection.

Cookies cannot be used to start up programs or transfer viruses onto a computer. The information contained in the cookies helps us to make it easier for you to navigate and to correctly display our website.

Under no circumstances is the data we collect transferred to third parties, or combined with your personal data without your prior permission.

You can of course display our website without cookies, too. Internet browsers are often configured to accept cookies. You can, however, deactivate the usage of cookies, at any time by adjusting your browser settings accordingly. Please use the help function on your Internet browser to find out how you can change these settings. Please note that certain functions of our website may not work if you have disabled cookies.

Your rights to information, correction, blocking, deletion and objection

You also have the right to correct, block or – with the exception of the data storage prescribed for trading – delete your personal data. To do so, please get in touch with our Data Protection Officer. Contact details are provided at the bottom.

To allow data to be blocked at any given time, such data must be retained in a locked file for monitoring purposes. Unless a statutory obligation to archive such data exists, you can also request that the data be deleted. If such an obligation does exist, we will block your data upon your request.

You can make changes or revoke your consent with future effect by notifying us accordingly.
