Coefficient of thermal expansion

The coefficient of thermal expansion is a characteristic value that describes to what extent a substance experiences changes in its dimensions due to temperature fluctuations. Dimensional change is caused by thermal expansion, which varies for different substances. The coefficient of thermal expansion is therefore temperature-dependent and specified according to a reference temperature or temperature range.
